In partnership with Loop Commerce, both BananaRepublic.com and Athleta.com will go live with GiftNow – a technology and service that allows you to select a specific item and send it online. The gift can be delivered either right away for those true last minute needs or scheduled ahead of time whenever that special occasion will be. The recipient receives an email with the gift details and has the opportunity to select their preferred color, size and shipping address – or exchange it for something else entirely before the gift is sent.
In addition to being able to shop for gifts online, Athleta will also be the first retailer to bring the GiftNow experience in-store with the new GiftNow Card coming to 10 Athleta stores starting the week of November 13. The GiftNow Card allows shoppers to easily buy any product as a gift, and for gift receivers to redeem their card online for a specific product rather a dollar amount.
We’re excited to add the GiftNow service to Athleta.com and BananaRepublic.com, and be the first brand to work with Loop Commerce on a connected experience by also offering the GiftNow Card in select Athleta stores,” said Noam Paransky, SVP Digital at Gap Inc. “We believe this new personalized gifting service will provide our customers an easy way to do their holiday shopping both online and in-store.

While omnichannel commerce has been an area of rapid growth, omnichannel gift-giving has lagged behind. The goal behind the launch of its (GiftNow’s) patent-pending card is to offer shoppers the chance to give their friends and family the gift of flexibility, while still keeping the gift personalized. The GiftNow Card also allows physical retailers to rethink how they manage inventory and shelf space, since the cards essentially open up the brands’ entire catalog to gift buyers, without requiring them to keep items on hand at brick-and-mortar locations.

Other retailers using Loop Commerce’s platform this holiday season to offer personalized gifts include Target, Macy’s, Michael Kors and Tapestry, the parent of the Coach brand. High-end department stores Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman and Saks Fifth Avenue are also on board.

By joining forces with Loop Commerce, both Athleta and Banana Republic will offer the GiftNow card this holiday season. The card, an extension of Loop Commerce’s online GiftNow service, enables consumers to purchase and instantly deliver any product online. In a new twist, the GiftNow card also gives the recipient the option to accept, customize or exchange the merchandise before it ships.
Here’s how it works: A customer selects a gift for someone in-store, and with an associate’s help, that gift is virtually loaded to a GiftNow Card.
The process is similar online. Customers find an item they want to gift, and click on the “GiftNow” button on the product page to buy and checkout as a gift. They provide the recipient’s name and email, a special message, and select what day the gift should arrive. Customers can send the gift immediately, or wait to deliver it on a dedicated date.

Loop Commerce now has relationships with several retailers, including Target, Banana Republic, Athleta, Michael Kors, Saks, Macy’s, Bergdorf, Neiman Marcus, American Giant, Lilly Pulitzer, Vera Bradley and Tapestry, among others.
But Athleta is so far the only one of those retailers set to offer the service in stores, as Loop Commerce looks to break new ground for its service ––
What that means to the gift buyer is that a trip to a brick-and-mortar store is not wasted “just looking.” That’s a particularly enticing promise at the holiday season, when we all spend a little extra time looking for the perfect gift, but sometimes just can’t find it — or maybe don’t know what color or size our nephew or niece would prefer. It could also be appealing to late, time-strapped holiday shoppers trying to make a quick purchase.
Loop’s GiftNow Card revolutionizes how shoppers are able to buy gifts in physical stores and overcomes the hurdles gift-givers face – such as not knowing the recipient’s size or favorite style – and caters to the large and growing base of consumers looking for a more thoughtful alternative to a gift card. The GiftNow Card also solves significant retail inventory management and limited shelf space constraints. For the many stores cutting back on inventory and for those with limited shelf space, the GiftNow Card unlocks a retailer’s full catalog of merchandise for gift-giving.
With the GiftNow Card, Loop delivers an in-store representation of a specific and thoughtful item as soon as the gift-giver selects it. The GiftNow Card is an in-store extension of Loop’s patented and popular online GiftNow® service used by many leading retailers and top brands, such as Macy’s, Target, Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, Coach, and others, which enables consumers to easily purchase and instantly deliver any product online with the flexibility to then accept, customize or exchange it before it was even shipped. Similarly, upon receiving the physical GiftNow Card, the gift recipient is directed to the same online experience that allows customizing or exchanging the gift before shipment.
GiftNow is now the first gifting platform to offer a seamless omni-channel experience for retailers and consumers, allowing shoppers to purchase actual products as gifts in this new way from within the physical stores using the GiftNow Card, as well as within the online store using the GiftNow service available as a checkout on the product pages.
